Paneer, although high in fats and calories, is also a high-protein and low-carb food that could work well for weight loss if consumed the right way. In India, paneer is often deep-fried or cooked in a tomato and onion-based gravy with lots of butter, cream, and oil. Doing so can raise the calorie content of the meal thereby inducing weight gain in the long run. Therefore, one needs to be mindful of paneer intake – in terms of quantity and cooking technique – to achieve the goal weight.
